Anda Protection and Renewal Design of Middle East Railway Historic

The planning area is the historic site in front of the Anda railway station, with a total planning area of 29 hectares and 51 historic buildings.

1.1 The Site of Study

QUESTION 1  (The square in front of the train station and its surroundings )

 

•The line between cars and people is not clear.

•The square in front of the railway station full of buses, taxis. These compressed people’s activity spaces.

•The railway divided their houses and social spaces like markets, schools into two counterparts.

SOLUTION 1  (The square in front of the train station and its surroundings )

•Establish bus main stations to control the buses into the square.

•Construct sharing mobile systems to enhance mobility and decrease roads to pedestrian pathways.

•Build an underground squares to link up the west and east parts or railway and reinforce the role of the railway station.

•Build another flyover.

Except for the underground square, people live on the east side can also cross the railway station more easily.

Functional partition

Connect public and private areas with excessive space, semi-private areas, in front of the railway station.

A safe car-free walking environment is achieved by evacuation vehicles from the square.

1.4 Achievements

QUESTION 2  (City Cultural Area and the Vicinity of the Iron Bridge)

•Residents suggest increasing restaurants, supermarkets and gyms.

•Old buildings and blocks are less concentrated.

•Lack of open spaces and leisure places.

•The west and east side parts of the railway’s landscape are far apart.

SOLUTION 2  (City Cultural Area and the Vicinity of the Iron Bridge) 

•Remain five complete buildings and provide shops and restaurants emplacement with glass windows and modern materials.

•Unicom design between shops and restaurants.

•Design a railway park to apply landscape consistency and add gym facilities.

1.5 Design Plan

Satisfy residents’ actions to strengthen historical characteristics, including the renovation of historical buildings and the improvement of public spaces.

 

The promotion and expansion of industries, business opportunities, residents’ lives, and old buildings.
